Job Description:
Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is
seeking a Temporary Research Assistant in the Pharmacology,
Physiology and Neuroscience within New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS
). Under supervision, the Temporary Research Assistant performs and
assists with laboratory services and procedures in support of
research activities of the laboratory. Performs other related
laboratory duties as required. Among the key duties of this
position are the following: Maintain mouse and rat colony (for ex,
genotyping, breeding, weaning). Perform experiments (for ex,
fiberoptic spectroscopic analysis, rodents behavioral tests,
perfusion, rodents brain sectioning and immunohistochemistry).
Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and
development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions
of the laboratory, constantly evaluating existing procedures,
revising where necessary, proposing new procedures where required
and evaluating suggestions and changes as proposed, in order to
keep the methodology and procedures current. Install and maintain
laboratory computers and equipment in good working order. Submits
purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor of analytical and
physiological equipment and laboratory operating supplies. Overview

Experience with rodent experiments such as genotyping, maintaining
mouse and rat colonies, and immunohistochemical analysis on rodent
tissue, is preferred.
