Agency Overview: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is the leading
provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau
County. The agency provides comprehensive services to victims and
survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human
trafficking, and elder abuse. The Safe Center is a thought leader
that seeks to develop and implement innovative interventions to
meet the multifaceted needs of victims and survivors.SUMMARY: The
Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly, co-located setting
in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental
health, medical, forensic interviewers, and victim advocacy
professionals work together to investigate child abuse, help
children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable. The CAC
staff work collaboratively with criminal justice and community
partners to deliver trauma-focused services to children and
families in need. The Forensic Interview Program is a core
discipline within the Child Advocacy Center. The Forensic Interview
Program is responsible for the coordination and conduct of forensic
interviews pursuant to allegations of the child sexual abuse,
severe physical abuse, sex trafficking of minors, and other forms
of crime.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in pre and post forensic
interview meetingsConduct developmentally appropriate and
culturally sensitive interviews of childrenConduct interviews in
accordance with current best practicesTranslate forensic interviews
for non-Spanish speaking investigative partners
Participate in Forensic Interview
peer reviewsRecord keeping and data tracking regarding Child
Advocacy Center casesReceive continuing education related child
abuse issues and interviewing techniques Orient child victims and
their non-offending family members to the criminal justice
processWork collaboratively with the Nassau County Child Abuse
Multidisciplinary TeamMaintain statistical records and
documentation using an electronic health recordOther duties as
assigned by the Program Director.QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree in Criminal Justice,
Social Work, or related field preferredBachelors degree with
related experience will be consideredTwo years experience working
with trauma survivors, knowledge of the dynamics of interpersonal
violence, and the ability to adopt a
client-centered/strengths-based approach and growth mindset
preferredExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFluency in
Spanish, spoken and written preferredHOURS, COMPENSATION &
BENEFITS:
Full-Time, 35 hours per week
